This is a response piece to the first installment, “Dear Younger Me”. The little girl illustrated is the younger version of Nicole Herring. It explores what the response would be after receiving the one-word message from the future, endure. The response is reflected through the color of the dress.
The pink flowers indicate an overwhelming level of innocence. Such innocence would most likely prevent her from fully comprehending her older self’s advice. Her innocence, however, will also protect her from the same worry, stress, and fear the older self wants her to avoid.
Though some may call it naivety, the little girl’s innocence will equip her with the courage to undergo the harsh realities of life.
